Offi, at 2Modern

Posted on Sun, 10 Aug 2008 by KiM

I was poking around the 2Modern site this morning, and came across the furniture line Offi. “Offi & Company, based in Emeryville, California, was born out of a love for great design. Offi satisfies this passion by creating simple, beautiful and practical furnishings that address the modern urban lifestyle. OFFI products are created to be multifunctional, comfortable, and at home in any modern home in the world.” Their furniture is for sure modern but I love how the majority of the items have curved lines, that removes the typical harshness of most modern pieces. (And as an avid fan of Karim Rashid, I was pleased to see that some of their products are designed by him). They also carry kids furniture and it’s incredible. Most of the items are marketed as easy to put together and something kids would enjoying helping with. Brilliant! Here’s a taste of what you’ll find at 2Modern from the Offi line:

Scott Waterman

Scott Waterman is an artist, a talented decorative painter and I’d like to add an incredible interior designer once I saw photos of his home. His decorative painting began with trompe l’oeil murals and the restoration of historic buildings. Amazing talent (click for larger images)…

His former home in San Francisco was featured in several shelter magazines and was absolutely breathtaking – so serene, romantic, captivating and filled with natural beauty. The creativity in these spaces is fascinating.

Scott has alot of ideas for his house and someday hopes to move his studio out of it, but in the meantime it is fantastic – the white makes his stunning and colourful artwork just come to life. Talk about multi-talented!! Thank you Scott for introducing us to your creative world.

2Modern, and one of my fetishes

Posted on Sun, 13 Jul 2008 by KiM

We have a great group of sponsors here at desire to inspire, and one that has been with us for a while is 2Modern. Their online store rocks, and I thought I would do a post on one of my fetishes, pillows, because they carry such a huge, amazing selection. (Although searching through their store might not have been a good idea, because it’s too easy to hit that “ADD TO CART” button!)

One of my favourite lines is by Plush Living. OMG! They are silk, which ups the sexy factor, and the patterns and colours are so hot. I would be tempted to decorate a whole bedroom around some of these.

Thomaspaul is always up there on my list of favourite patterns and I am in love with just about every pillow 2Modern carries from their line. Since I have a thing for peacock feathers, that one might be my favourite.

Koko‘s line of pillows have an ethnic vibe to them which I’m always drawn to. The colours are so pretty, and they have such unusual patterns. The rice pillows won me over.

So go on over and check out their site, and for those in the continental US, shipping is FREE!

Coffee table conundrum

Posted on Mon, 30 Jun 2008 by KiM

A reader wrote in wondering what to do for a coffee table and has a couple requirements – she doesn’t want 2 smaller tables and her other half doesn’t want glass. I’ve been in the same predicament for several months now, and can’t seem to find anything suitable, although I will probably go for glass or acrylic since my room is so small. I think coffee tables are a perfect place to add a little bit of the unexpected – a bit of colour, a different style to the rest of the space, a bit of quirkiness….you can really do anything. Since our reader already has a blend of styles in her living room – a sofa (contemporary casual – Crate and Barrel-like), chairs (modern), side table (antique mahogany parlor table), and lamp (Tiffany-style), then why not spice things up? I am loving Moroccan tea tables at the moment as a great way to inject a little bit of ethnicity. Or perhaps something Asian flavoured? Below are a wide range of styles for some ideas.
