A renovated 1927 Spanish-style home

Sharing another absolutely stunning project by Electric Bowery. The details in this 1927 home…..WOW! I’m head over heels in love with the courtyard. The objective was to enhance the character of the original home while upgrading the fixtures and finishes and reworking the layout to create a more functional family home for the owner and her three boys. Electric Bowery designed and managed extensive changes to the interior of the home, including a new bifold front door system, completely renovated kitchen, and new custom millwork throughout the home. We reworked the upper floor plan to convert a den off the Master Bedroom into a new Master Bathroom, and fully remodeled two additional bathrooms. The material palette is rich and luxurious with warm walnut millwork, luminous onyx, exquisite mosaic tile work and dramatic quartzite. The final result is a stunning, layered home that reflects the owner’s radiant personality and style. (Photos: Douglas Friedman)

It is the last call for entries for the A’ Design Award and Competition! The deadline for entries is fast approaching and now is the time to submit your best work. You can nominate your design here. With over 100 categories the A’ Design Award and Competition is the worlds’ largest design competition. But it is not just an award. It is an indicator of quality and perfection in design, recognized worldwide, your design front and centre before design companies and professionals.
From the Good Industrial Design Award to the Good Architecture Design Award. The Good Product Design Award to the Good Communication Design Award. The Good Service Design Award to the Good Fashion Design Award and soooo many more! (You can find all the design categories listed here.) Winning A’ Design Award & Competition, which is an independent and expert appraisal for design, contributes to corporate reputation and brand image. Taking part in the A’ Design Award & Competition provides valuable feedback and experience. With the competition highlighting advertising & advocating good design, taking part will provide recognition, publicity and international peer review. Entries will be judged by an international jury panel of scholars, professionals and media members. The benefits to the winners are really inspiring. A Venice Beach refuge

Electric Bowery had the pleasure of partnering with clients who share deep roots in the arts, and were looking to establish their own refuge. The goal was to find the perfect balance of open area and urban energy. The site ultimately selected was an oversized Venice lot providing flexibility to build a home with a unique program of accessory spaces for art, yoga, and meditation – without sacrificing outdoor living areas. Upon entry through the front gates, the property is perceived as a courtyard sanctuary with meandering gardens laced together by limestone and vein-cut travertine. The organic hardscape provides a clean canvas for lush landscape design by LA-based Terremoto who has a penchant for softening the built environment. Playing off the verdant landscape are interior plaster finishes in warm whites, subtle blush, and bolder turquoise which add a layer of vibrancy and sustain the feeling of a thriving oasis. Custom steel windows frame each view with thoughtful intention. Handcrafted millwork in indigo-ebony and bleached oak, all designed in-house, are paired with an unexpected yet classic choice of finishes and fixtures. Several light sources by Apparatus Studio double as sculptural highlights. The result is an incredibly relaxed and soothing home, with an organic and sophisticated edge. (Photos: Laure Joliet)
Mesón Hidalgo

I still have San Miguel de Allende on my list of must-visit places and what a dream it would be to stay at a place as gorgeous as Mesón Hidalgo.
Laura Kirar was leaving the city of San Miguel de Allende for another when she stepped, by chance, through the doors of a centuries-old manor house off Calle Hidalgo and—utterly enchanted—into an entirely different story. The house, renamed Mesón Hidalgo, was founded in 2019 as an intimate collaboration between four women-led brands rooted in México—a designer, a silversmith, a clothier, and a perfumer. Blurring the lines between environment and experience, style and lifestyle, history and present, México’s first guesthouse-boutique offers three one-of-a-kind, private guestrooms (designed by Laura), four luxury shops, and endlessly curated experiences hosted by artists and inspired by the spirit of San Miguel de Allende. A 13th century castle in Italy

Where do I sign? What a dreamy little slice of ancient history in Italy, and can be yours for €6,450,000 (for sale via Sotheby’s). Set in the delightful village of Monteleone not far from Cesena, this magnificent castle dating back to 1200 is well maintained with all the original features, restored and preserved with great attention to detail, protected by its high walls and the two ancient towers that act as sentinels, inside it hides a small church and a precious private garden. The complex adjacent to the castle consists of two renovated units and other cottages scattered over the property grounds. The property also has a large panoramic terrace, where on clear days you have a splendid sea view and a view of the uncontaminated and hills of Cesena. The property includes approximately 360 hectares of land, of which 8 hectares are vineyards in production.
