Private lagoon views in California

Posted on Fri, 4 Sep 2020 by KiM

This house!!!! Those views!!!! Set on a private lagoon adjacent to a pristine stretch of northern California coastline, the Seadrift House lets nature in from all angles. The site was designed to make the most of lush mountain views and foster connectivity to the active and social lagoon-life. This is indoor-outdoor living at its finest. The landscape features deer resistant, drought tolerant and fire resistant plantings. Landscape design: Boxleaf Design, Architect: Butler Armsden Architects, Contractor: Gubbins Building Company, Landscape Contractor: New Leaf Gardens.

Neutral modern goodness

The other day I was talking to my twin about how much I love neutral, earthy spaces but with lots of dark pieces mixed in because drama is always necessary, and fabrics with lots of texture and warmth to them. I feel like L.A. designer Katie Hodges has really nailed what I had in mind with this home she designed. There is a uniqueness to each room which I can also appreciate.

Give me Haussmannian apartments any day of the week and I’ll be a happy camper. This architecture is incredibly inspiring and makes the rest of the decor shine. Like in this apartment designed by Agathe Convert in collaboration with Amélie Buvat. A mix of dark and light paint colours, and the prettiest pink I’ve ever seen on the kitchen cabinets. Lots of built-in storage solutions makes this space functional on top of being gorgeous.

Subdued colours in a California Tudor home

Posted on Mon, 31 Aug 2020 by KiM

Timeless style with a muted colour palette, a contemporary/classic take on updating a Tudor in Los Altos Hills, California, by Christine Lin of Form + FieldA couple based in Asia tasked us with creating a comfortable family home to host 3 generations and guests. Stylistically, the wife prefers modern while the husband has slightly more traditional leanings. We struck a subtle balance between the two styles, respecting the Tudor style architecture, and incorporated family heirlooms throughout the space.

Art can really have a dramatic impact on a space. Take this apartment with fairly unremarkable architecture and mostly white walls. The art really stands out when there are no distractions and adds a really upscale, classy mood. By Brooklyn designer Danielle Colding.
