Old-world elegance meets vintage in Madrid

I am completely in love with this renovated 19th century apartment in Madrid. The original architectural details including exposed beams and brickwork alone have me about to pass out, let alone the fact that this space is furnished with a wonderful random assortment of antique/vintage pieces. That chandelier over the dining table is especially scrumptious. Ana Cabellos and Elisa Fernández of La Traviesa de Conde Duque worked some magic here. Via Nuevo Estilo.

Still stalking

Still stalking, still in Fitzroy. Hey I’d never leave if I had my choice. This time it’s a warehouse conversion with walls of glass to take in the internal courtyard views. Perhaps a little updating is needed but the overall package is fabulous. If I can’t have the bluestone worker’s terrace of my earlier post then I guess I’ll just have to make do with urban industrial chic. Once again the video sells this house. Link here while it lasts.

Classic spaces by VSP Interiors

Elegant and classic, timeless with subtle modern touches, Henriette von Stockhausen and Jane Petti of British design firm VSP Interiors are creating drama with mostly traditional spaces (add in the occasional modern kitchen). I adore this first living room – the wallpaper is gorgeous and with the layers of furnishings and accessories it’s busy but the resulting space works and it’s fabulously bold.

Sunnyside

You know it’s not always about sofas that cost as muche as a small car, 2 ovens (one steam), a microwave and a German coffee machine banked up in the kitchen wall or a bathroom encased in marble. Sometimes it’s about thoughtful, uncomplicated yet sophisticated style. It’s about family living in beautiful spaces, laid-back yet desirable. Sunnyside House by Daleet Spector Design.

A Swedish apartment filled with vintage finds

Happy Easter dear DTI readers! It’s a miserable day here in Ottawa but at least the rain is turning the brown grass green and we have no snow left. Bring on summer!! Whether you celebrate Easter or not hope you have a great day with family and friends. I’m off later to my folks’ place for turkey dinner and I’m bringing the dessert (made easy thanks to an incredible bake sale the Country Cat Sanctuary held yesterday out in Kemptville). And tomorrow I hope to visit the sanctuary and bring home a super sweet, skinny little cat that I can’t get out of my head that I think needs to live in a real home and get some extra attention (that is hard when you’re living among 150 others). Anyhoo, I spotted this apartment in Malmö yesterday @ MilK Decoration and had to share because it’s a Scandinavian dream of funky vintage finds and treasures from the homeowners’ travels. Love the accents in black too.
