Summer appears to be sticking around a little longer here in Ottawa with temperatures reaching 40 tomorrow. FINE BY ME! In the meantime I am trying to enjoy every moment I can outdoors…and then I came across this beach house in Malibu and was blown away by how beautiful it is inside and out. I would give anything to be able to enjoy a climate like that year round and be so close to the ocean. By Ignacio Rodriguez Architects.

Nothing (well, maybe not “nothing” but you get the idea) makes me happier than waking up on a Sunday morning to the realization that all those outside chores I planned on doing have been scrapped by mother nature (love her)! So, what better way to spend my morning than with a good cup of tea curled up on my favorite chair browsing design ideas and house plans? Here are a few of my favorites that I found from The Plan Collection.

Love the neutral colors, open floor plan and detailed arches of this craftsman home. All of the different textures really make this home very inviting!

Here’s another great kitchen. Black and white is one of my favorite combinations; always timeless. I like how they added just a hint of color throughout.

Very simple but elegant. I am really liking that farm table and the different seating styles – what a great idea. I’ve got my eye on that paisley chair!

I love the use of stone and wood in this craftsman home plan. I could definitely come home to this every night.

Great open floor plan and tons of natural light in this modern house plan. This beautiful space would make entertaining family and friends easy.

Cozy fireplace and pops of color…I could definitely enjoy this outdoor space!

The use of different materials and finishings make this a cook-worthy kitchen.

After a long day, I would be more than happy to see this bedroom every night…so inviting. And I love that bench!

Believe it or not, I found this very cool design under small house plans. The architectural details (love that roof and trellis), beautiful stone and wood combination paired with all of those windows makes this a perfect pick for me.

This Brooklyn brownstone needed a makeover and with a budget of $7000 Alex of Common Bond Design made it happen with mixing high and low items (my favourite way to decorate!). This is decorating for living – a casual vibe with lots of vintage finds with loads of character. (You can find another CBD feature here)

And a sneak peek from me. If you’re not following me or my cat herd on Instagram then you missed the inauguration of the new catio we built! They all freaking love it, and as I was getting this post ready I stuck my head out to look and found feral Georgie down in the grass exploring for the first time. YAY!! Here is the first time Frankie went out exploring with his brother Bernie. This is the view from the escape route through the kitchen window, and Frankie giving me a side-eye. (I’ll try to get decent photos of it this week)

If you are stuck in the office today, my heart hurts for you as the last days of summer approaches and I plan on spending just about the entire long weekend outdoors and soak it all up. But maybe it wouldn’t hurt so much if the office looked like this. The designers from mode:lina™ have faced a challenge of planning an interior project for Norwegian company Opera Software, creator of the popular web browser. The company headquarters are located in two prestigious town houses in the heart of Wroclaw – one from the beginning of the XIX century and the second from 1913. All of this started with one e-mail titled “We want the best office in the world!”.
