Emma Hos

Still can’t get enough of the Swedish look. You know, the black, white, mixed with wood, softened by the green of indoor plants and brought to life with everyday personal pieces look. It’s simple. It’s stylish. A touch of boho, a midcentury Scandi classic, an artful tumble of clothes or shoes or toys and the obligatory sheepskin. Loving these rooms from stylist Emma Hos. Black and white beauties for the every day.

The garden library

Down at the end of the garden is where you would normally find a folly. But how can you call a garden library a folly? Created by Czech firm Mjölk Architects, this fibreglass and wood box provides a reading room, a sleeping floor, a perch to observe your literary kingdom and of course books, glorious books. My head is swimming with possibilities. Just where in my garden will I place mine?

Stalking the art

Posted on Mon, 19 May 2014 by midcenturyjo

Behind a simple fence is a 1930’s house with some 1960’s alterations and a whole lot of style from the current owner. (Referred to in the real estate blurb as an “art identity”. No wonder I love this place.) A little earthy, not too pretentious and chock a block with beautiful art. If I could buy it just as it is in these photos I’d be very, very happy. From the cracked polished concrete floors to the simple master bedroom I’ll take it all. Link here while it lasts.

Stalking leftovers

Busy day. In a rush. You know the story. I’m fussy. You like to look anyway 🙂 Not quite right, bad photos, I need more photos please, house is amazing furniture is deplorable or no furniture at all! Can’t quite put my finger on it listings with something that has me nodding “yes”. This week’s leftovers include a couple of promising houses with a little too much shiny stone, Mr Potato Head prints on a bedroom wall, several trips to the countryside for a getaway, a vine covered warehouse (everything inside must go) and a lovely home where I’m sure the real estate agent pushed all the furniture up against the walls… “It will make the rooms look bigger in the photos.”. Friday night drinks

Heading out for some well deserved Friday night drinks. The hair comes down and the heels go up. Just because it’s time to party after a hard week at work doesn’t mean the design inspiration has to stop. There are plenty of ideas to steal from Singapore based The Stripe Collective‘s redesign and rebranding of Oxwell & Co. Striped back to the bare bones interiors, split treatments on the floors, Victoriana chic and a dash of quirk. Join me for drinks?
