Stalking on the floor

I like my brick old and tumbled and recycled and on the floor. I would sell my first born, if I had one, for a warehouse space like this where the brick was underfoot, heavy old beams above and walls of glass to let in the light. I would definitely have to tweak the furniture, make the persian rugs larger 9 (and maybe moroccan?), action some large art and change the doona cover(!) but the space itself? Yummy. … and Brazilian. Apartment living that is fun and fab. I love the design coming out of Brazil. A mix of cutting edge contemporary and retrolicious with a riot of colour and art. It’s young and fresh and fun. Residence Canario by Maurício Arruda.

Stalking on a Saturday

I’m stalking another wonderful example of the imperfectly perfect or is that the perfectly imperfect? All I know is the location is perfect, Avalon in the Northern Beaches/Pittwater area of Sydney. The house is a perfect little shack. A little shabby but as stylish and chic as a shack could ever want to be. And the view from the deck is… sigh… perfect. Please someone buy it and keep it just as it is. It’s being sold as a development site (it will no doubt have a ridicously high reserve price) but in the perfect world of my dreams this little shack will be bought by my best friend who will let me use it any weekend I like. De Wet 34

Views that go on forever anchored by the raw textures of concrete, rock and timber. Dramatic volumes defining open plan living areas. Bespoke furniture and high end finishes. Stairs that take you on a tactile journey. A pool terrace that taunts the view and a master bedroom suite that rivals any 5 star resort. Sensual and sensational, definitely a statement home. You’ll find me on the terrace indulging in the view and some rays. De Wet 34, Bantry Bay, Cape town by SAOTA – Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects & OKHA Interiors.
