A new build house is given a super dose of character and colour. Savannah, Georgia based Rethink Design Studio has taken a basically “nice” shell and created a fun family beach house. It’s about adding architectural details, personal pieces, splashes of colour and keeping everything light hearted and casual. Favourite bits? The bunk room on the first floor screened off with curtains. Great for kids and all those extra guests. Me? I”ll take one of the peaceful bedrooms. Sea glass colours have always been a fav.

If your weekend is hectic, like mine, take a little time to drink in the stillness of this beautiful house by London based architectural and design firm Atelier ChanChan. The repetition of herringbone brickwork, the neutral colour pattern, oak and marble, simplicity of line, the sense of cocooning in a private space. Unwind, relax, restore.

Just one more I promise. An end of row corner terrace house, small in size, big on style. The kitchen/breakfast seating/courtyard is wonderful. So much light and sense of space from such a tiny footprint. The icing on the cake is the location in Surry Hills, my favourite part of Sydney. Link here while it lasts.

The second of today’s stalking targets. Just moments from the other house but so different. A worn patina to its facade and a country meets artist meets historical meets faded charm feel. Favourite rooms? I’d love to sit and gossip with friends over a large pot of tea in the kitchen and my inner crafter is coveting the craft room. So which one could you live in? I’m leaning towards… hum… this one. Link here while it lasts.

I’m stalking two houses in Paddington, Sydney today. Both Victorian era terrace houses just a few blocks apart but at opposite ends of the style spectrum. Here’s number one. A corner terrace with an elegant, contemporary feel but still with loads of period features. Love the kitchen with its easy access to the garden. Wait until you stalk the second terrace with me then let me know which one is your favourite. I bet you’ll be able to pick mine. Link here while it lasts.
