It’s no surprise that French architect Camille Hermand is one of our favourites. Her latest project sees her take on a family home in a western suburb of Paris. No suburban hohum here though. Her signature use of black and white is enriched with deep accents of blue and a deliciously tart citron yellow while a striking concrete staircase leads you up through the floors. Talk about Parisian chic in the ‘burbs!
Melbourne based interior architecture and design firm Sisällä has me loving them all over again with this Dominion Road House project (a previous feature here). The original charm of the house sits beautifully alongside the new interior ‘barn’ style addition. The design needed to function seamlessly for modern family life however aesthetically it needed to be sympathetic to the historical nature of the house. The interior design sits comfortably within the context of the house without being a pastiche of the older style. Careful consideration of the interior layout ensured that the barn was visually connected to the house. Custom cabinetry using beautiful yet durable materials, alongside the furniture, lighting and décor provides a beautiful backdrop to family life. (Photos: Amorfo)
Where blues and greens pop against a white and grey backdrop, where graphic patterns are in abundance, where coastal style meets practical comfort. A statement home designed by San Diego interior design firm AGK Design Studio.
I really don’t think you could feel blue in a lovely spot such as this. Read a book, lean back and chat on your phone, take an afternoon nap… that’s what I’d do. By Katerina Tana Design.
Nestled in a subtropical garden is the small office space of Brisbane-based styling team Indigo Jungle designed by local architects Marc&Co. Like a piece of origami tossed aside it is the ultimate backyard shack. Enter through its narrow door and what opens before you is not a small, pokey room but a light filled creative space with framed views of its suburban “jungle”. My dream design atelier. Of course the interior design is by its resident stylists.
