As you likely guessed from the teaser photo, this is another wildly creative and playful home design by 2LG StudioA double-fronted period property in South London that was in need of a personality injection to make it feel like home. The young professional newly-weds who live here love our use of colour and the juxtaposition of period features and contemporary design. Dark floors unite the spaces, grounding them and allowing us to be playful in our designs for this vibrant couple. Embossed wallpaper on the ceilings and under the dado rail in the hallway, strengthen the impact of period fireplace and coving, giving the perfect backdrop for eclectic elements of contemporary design in the lighting and furnishings.

The un-Hamptons Hamptons

In the design lexicon when did the “Hamptons” become a pejorative? We all shudder and nod knowingly when confronted by a home that has been inappropriately “Hamptonised” but what happens when you actually live in the Hamptons and want a new take on the beachy, nautical themed, cliched blue and white riff that all your neighbours (and half the world) are rocking. Perhaps a little boho, retro with a dash of mid century and a pop of pink. Perhaps a stylish home just like this East Hampton one by Purveyor Design.

A New York apartment converted into a loft

After 30 years of stale decor and small rooms, Gramercy Design took this 1400 sq ft Lower Fifth Avenue apartment to a whole other lofty level by opening it and making it conducive to entertaining. The kitchen is the money shot. So simple yet perfectly executed in a fairly small space. Stashing that photo in my inspiration folder.

A colourful modern apartment in Moscow

Ilya Guliants and Katya Alagich of Moscow-based design firm el Born studio created an exuberant and somewhat whimsical space for a young couple with 2 children. The kitchen/dining floor tile is gorgeous and with the dark teal cabinetry is such a eye-catching combination. Loving the graphic paint treatment on the living room wall, the unique dining room pendant and the bold wallpaper in the bedroom. Lots of fun all around!
