What is it with all Parisian designers consistently rocking my world?!?! Here is a new-to-me designer Fabrizio Casiraghi and snippets from several of his fabulous projects. He experiments with color, creates surprising melanges and masters the use of light. His experience at the French architecture studio of Dominique Perrault and his formative years at Polytechnic University of Milan, enabled him to achieve the perfect balance between lyricism and milanese sophistication, austerity and purity. Fabrizio Casiraghi redefines a free modernity that isn’t opposed to the past but rather incorporates historical references, a discrete ambiance and a taste for the intimate while also being daring with bold combinations and through the imaginative use of light and space. Casiraghi delights in overturning the codes of interior design with surprising contrasts: neon light with ancient mirrors, precious fabrics with industrial resin, and antique furniture with extravagant plant displays, always with a seductive harmony and an invitation to travel, sometimes calm, sometimes exotic.

Russian duo Nadya and Givi Ananiev of eponymous design firm Ananiev Interiors have created a colourful, elegant apartment with urban sophistication. A wall of windows may lead the eye out to the views but it’s the blue colour palette that makes it bright and breezy. A distinct mid century vibe as well as statement custom pieces  add the glamour and style.

Imagine a 3o’s era Tudor style home in Seattle and light and bright are not the first words that spring to mind. This Seattle home redesigned by Amanda Grace Interiors is a modern yet timeless family home, simple yet elegant, refined and relaxed. Oh and full of beautiful light.

Scnadinavian modern with a touch of farmhouse style in this bright and charming townhouse in Austin, Texas. This modern farmhouse mixes Scandinavian driven design with midcentury modern and bohemian accents. The color palette was inspired by two abstract paintings in the living room. Since the downstairs is open concept, we decided on a timeless white palette, while also adding pops of color in the 10′ x 10′ bookcase and wallpaper on the first floor. Each room is intended to communicate to other parts of the house so we thread through classic and clean finishes and materials like marble, brass, shaker panels, and matte hickory pecan flooring. The tongue and groove feature wall also hides a bathroom and storage closets, while also adding a touch of a “farmhouse” feel throughout the home and on the porch. This home is WILD! This is what you get when an architect in the 60’s designs himself a house. One of the great post-war Modern houses in London, Housden House was designed and built by architect Brian Housden for himself and his family between 1963-65. Presented to the market in beautifully original condition, this is the first time that the house has been available for sale. The concept is a clear demonstration of Housden’s understanding of pioneering European modernism, sharing many principles with the Rietveld Schröder House in Utrecht and Pierre Chareau’s Maison de Verre in Paris. The façade, a mix of protruding concrete platforms and glass bricks, belies the scale of the house, which is best captured from the rear. The back of the house is almost completely glazed with glass bricks, flooding the internal space with a warm westerly light at every level. The house is in fascinatingly original condition, having been lovingly maintained by the Housden family throughout its history. You can read all of the details as this house is for sale on The Modern House (and now under offer).
