A little jewel box of an apartment in Sydney’s Potts Point. Rich colours, an eclectic mix of furniture, surrounded by life’s treasures and mementos, of course a wall of books and to top it off an iconic view. Contemporary living in an Art Deco building done right. I want to move in. By Weir Phillips Architects.
I often say I need about 6 homes to get in all the styles I really gravitate towards. In the case of this lake house if you buy one big enough you can get in several styles in one go! That may be a bit of humour but I actually love how D2 Interieurs managed to pull this off and it still be cohesive. There’s a sort of minimal earthy elegance in the foyer and Miami chic in the formal living room and a beach vibe in the casual living room and retro in a sitting room and boho retro in the main bedroom…. it may seem like alot of competing styles but it has a wonderful flow and with a fairly neutral colour palette it is a success. Give me Haussmannian apartments any day of the week and I’ll be a happy camper. This architecture is incredibly inspiring and makes the rest of the decor shine. Like in this apartment designed by Agathe Convert in collaboration with Amélie Buvat. A mix of dark and light paint colours, and the prettiest pink I’ve ever seen on the kitchen cabinets. Lots of built-in storage solutions makes this space functional on top of being gorgeous.
It’s all about sophisticated contemporary living but remembering the building’s Edwardian past. Think textures and layers, white walls meeting sissal floors, zellige tiles, stone and accents of royal blue. Clifton Gardens by Studio Gorman.
