A château for sale in Normandy

Posted on Sun, 30 Jan 2022 by KiM

Yesterday I found myself down a rabbit hole of castles for sale and spotted this beauty in Bouquetot, Normandy. The landscaping is exquisite, and for a change the interior is actually quite beautifully decorated. Now if I could just come up with the 2 300 000 € to make this 7 bedroom, 5 bathroom, 5654 ft² château of my dreams mine… (For sale via Belle Demeures)

Working on a Saturday

It’s like I say week in week out. If you have to drag yourself into work on a weekend it helps if it’s somewhere stylish. Brut 172 by Niels Maier.

“The brief — Enhance the connection between old and new — and internal and external — by introducing an addition to this Federation home within strict heritage conservation guidelines in Sydney’s quiet Inner West. Original rooms would remain intact, with the crafting of new living spaces in the rear, as well as a pool that would still allow for a garden large enough for kids to play.”

The coming together of old and new, family space and private space, indoors and out. A modern extension that sits happily with the existing Edwardian era house and the streetscape. Heritage and history do indeed meet contemporary comfort. Bona Vista by Studio Prineas.

Villa Magnan in Biarritz

Posted on Sun, 26 Sep 2021 by KiM

Built in the centre of Biarritz between 1927 to 1931, Villa Magnan was only ever inhabited from 1931 to 1936 by Spanish aristocrats. It then lay empty for 80 years until current owners Anne and Jérôme Israël purchased and restored it over the course of one and a half years. Its 1,400 m2 of art deco mostly pink beauty is absolutely spectacular, and you can book a stay via their Instagram account. What a dream!!!
