“The scope of work included an extensive remodel of the existing 3,204 sq. ft. home with an 815 sq. ft. new addition for the master suite. The challenge of this residence was to unify a hyper traditional exterior façade, strictly limited by the historic classification of the neighborhood, with an unexpectedly contrasted interior. Similarly, the extremely traditional layout was reworked to create less restricted spaces and to utilize the privacy of the rear yard.”

Sometimes it takes just one room, a single perfect space that captures your heart and soul completely. This lovely heritage home in Sydney’s prestigious Darling Point is beautiful. The windows are stunning, the kitchen is amazing but it is the garden room, or at least what I call the garden room, that will haunt my design dreams for months to come. Lead-light and parlour palms, rattan seats and french oak tables. Perfection. This is one of the times I wish I was actually touring the house not just real estate stalking. Take an apartment with amazing bones such as soaring windows, ornate plaster cornices, herringbone floors and Swedish tile stoves. Fill it with the best of contemporary furniture (blonde wood obligatory of course). A monochromatic paint palette would be all  that was needed to achieve the much coveted Scandi style home. But add a slice or two of citrus oomph and it takes it to a whole other level. Talk about zing!!!
