This iconic 1830s “Charleston single” house in downtown Charleston underwent a two-year renovation. Originally featuring two main rooms, a centre hallway, an attic with dormers and fireplaces in every room, a double-tiered piazza shades the western side with an addition to the rear. Imagine a Parisian apartment blending old-world charm with chic 60s design and modern comforts, transformed by Ola Jachymiak Studio in Paris’s 9th arrondissement. Preserving features like parquet floors and tall wooden doors, Ola’s team enhanced the space with contemporary elements. Restored floors and doors maintain historical essence, while art adds depth. Retro touches like a black-and-white mosaic and bespoke furniture complete the design.

The transformation of Mosman House has created a bright, airy coastal residence. Initially focusing on structural improvements, the clients seized the chance to craft a home reflecting their lifestyle. Emphasizing beauty and functionality, Sydney-based studio Partridge Daniels redesigned the layout for better light and flow. A natural palette enhances the aesthetic. Notable features include a marble kitchen island, a scalloped fireplace, and a wool installation. Improved staircases, enlarged bedrooms, and a basement gym complete the transformation.

Brisbane-based Langlois Design‘s brief was to transform the existing residence, giving the architecture a modern lift, and seamlessly blending the clients’ styles. Emphasizing clean lines and layered textures, the home has become a vibrant oasis. The renovation focused on the kitchen, opening up space for better flow and incorporating a round, tiered island bench for functionality. The kitchen’s finishes reflected the clients’ personalities with organic shapes, olive green and teak joinery, terrazzo, mosaic tiles and modern tapware, creating an energizing yet homey atmosphere.
