A traditional home in Oakville, Ontario

Nestled in a historic neighborhood, the Allan residence speaks to the enduring appeal of traditional design. Here, we honored the home’s architectural heritage while weaving in layers of refined comfort. The living spaces unfold in a thoughtful rhythm – from a powder room wrapped in hand-blocked wallpaper to a kitchen where honed marble and antiqued brass tell a story of timeless materials. Rich textiles in measured patterns, carefully sourced antiques, and collected pieces work in harmony to create rooms that feel as though they’ve evolved naturally over time.
Classical elegance and such pretty warm colours that exude a bright and airiness but also act like a big hug. This home will be beautiful and relevant 30 years from now just as it is. Love that. By Hageman Homes. Photos: Will Reid.

A serene retreat for an empty nester

“This project celebrated a new chapter for the client as they entered the “empty nest” stage of life. The client wanted a place that was more serene and private, but would still accommodate and encourage frequent visits from their growing family. The home’s stunning views and landscape against the hills of Bommer Canyon, the Spanish architectural elements, timeless interior details and natural surroundings created a cohesive space that celebrates the very best of indoor-outdoor living.”

“Merging playful, textural, luxurious elements, Malvern Residence III is an uplifting family home that is cleverly terraced into its leafy Malvern landscape. Fostering a sense of togetherness, it embraces the principles of Wabi Sabi – a Japanese philosophy centred around the beauty and humility of natural patina – manifesting as a sophisticated, liveable home.”

Melbourne-based Studio Tate have created an elegant, inviting family home that harmonizes with its natural surroundings.

A sense of quiet luxury

Clements is a transformed Californian bungalow in Drummoyne, Sydney featuring a two-storey refurbishment by Some Studio. The design turned a once disconnected interior into an expansive, tactile space that flows harmoniously. The interior reflects the local landscape and exudes quiet luxury through light, texture, and rich colours. Burnished oak and the original deep brown brick anchor the home’s design, while Ross Gardam feature lighting and Brodware brass tapware add refined details. Earthy materials like rich marbles and organic plaster balance solid forms. Major floor plan changes created open communal spaces with a central free-form island and skylights maximizing natural light for a vibrant, modern lifestyle.

Chloe Tozer, founder of CLO Studios, and Jack Clissold’s home, Villa des Fleurs, merges French countryside and Italian influences to form a bright, creative retreat. Surrounded by lush gardens, the house features repurposed materials like recycled terracotta tiles, evoking a Tuscan villa. Custom furniture blends with vintage finds, including 1950s lamps by Audoux Minet. Heirlooms, travel treasures, a beehive, and vegetable gardens infuse the space with a spirit of cooking, creativity, and play.
