A colourful Georgian home

This bay-fronted house has a beautiful Georgian facade and a 1960s extension to the rear. We celebrated its quirky patinated walls and wonky wooden floorboards. In all our projects we hand pick antiques, but here we focused on Arts and Crafts furniture, a style that our client loved. We also created bespoke pieces such as the ebonised dining table. This was inspired by an antique piece and was designed to fit the curve of the bay window to ensure it was the best spot to hang out with family and friends. The colour palette throughout this remarkable house was based on our client’s wish to echo the local landscape. One of our most playful projects so far, we experimented with tonal variations and specialist finishes, such as textural tadelakt walls in one of the bathrooms. We also enlisted decorative painter Tess Newall to create a mural on the plaster-effect walls in the kitchen, and to embellish one of the guest bedrooms with a charming, oak leaf border.
This house has such an uplifting energy about it, and I LOVE that designer Lonika Chande maintained and embraced some of the history. Those living room walls on either side of the fireplace with the peeling wallpaper is really beautiful. Photos: Milo Brown.

Fiona Duke Interiors transformed this Edwardian family home in Essex through a complete reconfiguration and extension of both floors. The design blends modern and vintage elements to create an elegant yet relaxed aesthetic that feels effortless. With a focus on authenticity and livability, the space was fully modernised and thoughtfully planned throughout, reflecting the studio’s belief that great interior design can positively impact how people feel in their homes.

Ivy House is the stunning personal residence of Matt and Heather French, founders of French & French Interiors. Nestled in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in Santa Fe, New Mexico, this territorial-style home is a vibrant expression of their signature aesthetic. A playful fusion of color, pattern, and texture, the Ivy House embodies bold creativity and uninhibited design. With full creative freedom, Heather and Matt reimagined traditional style, blending hand-painted wall murals, eclectic pattern mixing, folk-inspired textiles, and unexpected yet delightfully surprising details throughout. Set against a breathtaking natural backdrop, this home is a true reflection of their visionary approach to interiors.
Not for the faint of heart, or the faint of pattern in this case, this home is a maximalist’s dream. A deeply personal project but also artistically ambitious. Tons of patterns and the prettiest of colours join forces to create a warm, country farmhouse vibe that is incredibly inviting. Photos: Jenna Peffley; Styling: Robert Rufino.

Blending traditional methods with British design, the studio delivers timeless spaces that suit both classic and modern architecture. For an 18th-century Wiltshire farmhouse, the clients’ first country home, they crafted a glamorous yet welcoming retreat. The project included a large kitchen extension, boot room, pantry, utility room and a thoughtful reconfiguration of the existing layout.
