Nestled amid umbrella pine, this villa in Cap Bénat reigns over the sea from a 45-meter-high rocky promontory. Originally designed in 1971 by André Lefèvre and Jean Aubert, the house has been extended recently by Atelier du Pont. The house’s horizontal design integrates with the landscape, featuring terraces akin to layered retaining walls cascading towards the sea. The new extension harmoniously complements the existing stone structure, extending seamlessly into terraces overlooking the ocean while the new infinity pool merges with the horizon.

With an eye for natural materials, bold shapes and handcrafted pieces, Alice produces characterful living spaces that seamlessly blend form and function. With a background in interiors that spans nearly two decades, Alice creates timeless schemes based on the principles of good design. Alice embraces both pared-back design and traditional, more maximalist approaches, delivered with a twist. The values that underpin her work remain consistent however: a respect for craftsmanship and the beauty of design classics; an enjoyment of colour and pattern and a tendency to produce playful motifs, from an unexpected lampshade trim to a tactile wall finish. A seamless blend of antique and modern pieces, one-off finds and specially commissioned art or furniture means that schemes take on a relaxed yet supremely comfortable feel.
A little bit of soothing eye candy from London-based Alice Leigh Design during this crazy hectic time of the year. Happy to just forget about all that and lounge with a tea on one of these chairs by a fire.

I couldn’t help it. I had to share another Betsy Brown project. I’m drawn to the browns and honeys that play off the white, the warm woods, jute and Tuareg rugs, leather and velvet … an oasis of calm.

“A well suited home is a portrait of those who live within. The palette colored by life’s experiences, a graceful segue from solitude to public life. It is a place where one feels effortless alone or in the company of friends. Such a home is our aim. Its creation begins with inquiry into the patterns of daily living, understanding what is nurturing, stimulating, calming—what feels like home. It requires inspection of cherished objects, and introspection into cherished experiences.”
I love the houses that Betsy Brown and her team cast their spell over. Serene and sophisticated.

This Paris apartment designed by architect Pauline Lorenzi Boisrond of Studio Ett Hem is top to bottom full of WOW factor elements. I mean the kitchen alone – that terracotta (?) tile floor, the beautiful cabinetry, the banquette, a statement tiled fireplace wall (a fireplace in the kitchen, what a dream!)…and then you turn around and there is the coziest black low-ceiling lounge nook. AND THEN you walk into the bathroom and I’m about to pass out over that tiled bathtub alcove. LOVE THIS!!!! Sourcing: Milkshake Interior; photos: BCDF studio.
