I came across the portfolio of designer Hollis Loudon Puig of Hollis Loudon Interiors and this first project blew my mind. After some brief sleuthing I discovered it was Hollis’ own maximalist, whimsical home in Loudonville, NY. that she had gut-renovated. It is A LOT of colour and pattern and then some more pattern and I know it’s not to everyone’s taste but I soooo admire her creativity and uniqueness. She even has a room devoted to antique Christmas decorations!

“In renovating multiple interiors of this family home, Workstead celebrated the enduring building and its surrounding landscape. Rooms’ colors and textures draw inspiration from the coastal environment, while ample open space keeps users’ attention focused on outdoor living and multigenerational gatherings. Select elements, such as kitchen cabinets and a bar niche, reference the whalers and plein air painters who once intermingled on Long Island’s South Fork. Antiques and next-generation collectibles meld the homeowner’s respect for the past with the desire for contemporary expression.”
Respect for the past and an understanding of contemporary living. It’s a heady experience when the designers get it just right. Atmospheric, inviting, intriguing yet comforting. Hook Pond Residence in East Hampton, NY by Workstead.

Oh yes this Spanish apartment is filled with light but it’s designer Luis Puerta‘s magical touch that brings it to life. He has a taste for simple luxury with natural finishes and carefully curated pieces while negative space plays an important role. A neutral nirvana in Madrid.

“Interior Design project of 1 bedroom residence in Bebek, Istanbul. Designed for a single professional, this Pied-á-terre is created by combining vibrant energetic colors and various forms of comfortable furniture and lighting. Almost all of the furniture, lighting and rugs are designed and custom made by Merve Kahraman design studio blending together with vintage founds and contemporary accessories. The concept was to create diversity by designing multiple spaces in this fresh and cozy apartment situated in the heart of Bosphorus.”
A revelry of colour and pattern with a distinct Memphis riff by New York/Istanbul-based interior and product designer Merve Kahraman. Joyous and cutting edge.

“We named this project the Brazilian Treehouse as we wanted it to visually feel like a sexy Stan Getz song. There was a certain romance to this project with our use of organic materials, lush colors and mood tones.”
When your career has included producing and directing music videos then it’s no surprise the rooms you create are a little rock ‘n roll. Saturated colours and textures as well as a love for statement vintage pieces are typical of Tiffany Howell of Los Angles-based design studio Night Palm. Think edgy yet sophisticated, moody and sensuous.
