Escape to the country 1

Posted on Tue, 16 Apr 2019 by midcenturyjo

I took a stroll through the Victorian country town of Daylesford today or should I say scroll through the real estate listings. I’ve found a great country home without the traditional rustic frou frou frills. Modern and minimalist and great for a tree change or just a weekend getaway. I’m real estate hunting in the oh so upmarket suburb of Point Piper. Built in 1905, this Edwardian mansion has expansive north easterly views across Point Piper and Rose Bay to Manly. I must admit my favourite luxury indulgence in this house is the master bedroom’s bath perched in its own alcove overlooking Sydney Harbour. The photos don’t do this property justice. You can get a better idea of how serenely beautiful it is from the video. Link here while it lasts.

Stalking 2

Right in the middle of Sydney. Close to the bridge and the Opera House. Well they say it’s all about location, location, location but in this case it’s also about loft living. High ceilings with sleek lines and polished timber floor boards. Walls of windows and mirrored walls to bounce around the urban view. The mezzanine bedroom is a little disappointing, the bathroom needs a spruce up and I’d want to move my own furniture in but when you have those windows  … sigh. Outrageously expensive at $1.55 million but that’s Sydney. Link here while it lasts.

Stalking 1

I’m stalking a building in Sydney’s Darlinghurst that from the street you would not particularly notice but inside it has been converted into three residences that celebrate its industrial beginnings.  Upstairs a four bedroom home with stylish eat in kitchen and courtyard garden. Downstairs two studio apartments that mean if I bought the place you could all take turns coming to stay and we can congregate around that table. Only problem is I would need around $4,700,000. Oh well that’s what real estate stalking is for. Dreaming. Link here while it lasts.

Stalking 2

Stalking this time in the Melbourne suburb of Albert Park and a development of an old commercial stables building and the Victorian era house at the other end of the block. Between is a modern addition that provides walkways, internal courtyard and kitchen dining with master bedroom above. It’s mix of hero spaces and intimate rooms, weathered old bricks and hard edged stone, glass and steel. The design is by Robson Rak Architects. Link here while it lasts.
