Stalking 2

Posted on Wed, 13 Feb 2019 by midcenturyjo

As you can see I’ve torn myself away from the garden I stalked in Paddington all the way to this garden in Queens Park not too far away.  The house is a recently renovated and extended semi-detached Edwardian with exposed brick, concrete floors and that inside out connection that Australians crave. Link here while it lasts.

Don’t get me wrong. I love this house. I love the cool white rooms with their doors thrown open to the outside. I love the Spanish tiles on the floor, the mix of old and new furniture, the painted Asian pieces. What I really love, though, is the garden. Oh my! A series of courtyards intimately connected to the interiors, the gurgle of water features including a small rill, white and yellow frangapanis. What low maintenance loveliness. I’m stalking in the Sydney suburb of Paddington just a stone’s throw from Oxford S. You’ll find the link here while it lasts.

Still stalking

Posted on Sat, 2 Feb 2019 by midcenturyjo

Apologies dear readers but I’m still stalking. I have, however, changed cities. I’m in Richmond in Melbourne. A Victorian terrace that at first I thought had been empty and styled for sale until I realised that no stylist would have a tangle of cables snaking behind the sofa or heaven forbid a lamp cord on display in a photograph. No I believe this is a lovely old house in need of a new kitchen and bathroom if you feel you must but I’d be happy to live with the owner’s furniture until I really, really had to renovate. Now sold but you can find it here while the link lasts.

Minimalist, modern with heritage features retained and packed with standout Australian art. What could be better? I guess if I moved in I would probably fall victim to my maximalist ways and start moving more things in but it’s houses like this that make me wish I could Marie Kondo my way to a simpler way of living, expensive yes but simpler. I’m stalking in Sydney’s Surry Hills. Link here while it lasts.

“Blissful family haven of space, light and privacy” and “Relaxed, functional and flexible”. The real estate agent is on a roll with the rhetoric. It may be grand but it’s also effortless. I’m not even showing you the view over parkland to the city  skyline. I’m stalking in Centennial Park in Sydney and I think I could happily move in, dark red grass cloth walls and all.
