Black kitchen cabinets, black dining chairs, black backsplash, black/blue bedroom walls and cupboard, black tile bathroom….this Potts Point, Sydney apartment designed by architect and interior designer Tom Ferguson (TFAD) is dark and fabulous and not at all dreary. This moody space is subtly glamorous and there is not a white wall in sight! And I am in love with the bathroom, and that Cole & Son Nuvole Fornasetti mural.

Honky always produces awesome interiors. Like this one in South London. For this show home at Valentines Place SE1, Honky has created an interior scheme with an edgy, industrial feel that reflects the original building’s heritage as a flour mill and former bakery. Jewel coloured details, velvets and tactile fabric elements combine with gold accessories to create an elegant, contemporary apartment. (Previous posts on their work here).

A couple of years ago I featured the 1850’s cottage of Brooklyn design studio Workstead (I am obsessed with their lighting). It seems they have put this adorable dwelling on the market and the listing broker sent us a link. This would be my dream summer getaway.
Elegantly simple, this 1850s eyebrow colonial in Gallatin, with private river frontage on the Roeliff Jansen Kill, is truly unique. Wake up to a river view from the master bedroom and then fish, kayak, swim or canoe on the Class A trout stream right on your property. Wonderful details abound throughout this 19th Century farmhand’s cottage, such as original wide plank floors, custom light fixtures, and a sunny deck right off the dining room. Mature trees, perennial plantings and a large lawn surround the house, providing both privacy and a feeling of openness. The cottage is an ideal retreat from city life, yet is close to many charming Hudson Valley towns. Conveniently located 2 hours from NYC, 5 minutes from the Taconic, and less than 25 minutes to Hudson, Millerton & Rhinebeck.

Alisha Hillery, of Matilda Rose Interiors based in NSW, Australia sent along some photos of a kitchen and bathroom renovation project she recently completed…and I love it so I absolutely had to share! Here are some details she provided: We knocked through the back of the house to build the kitchen extension and installed new windows and doors to let the space fill with natural light. We used a faux sandstone on the floor to give the feeling of warmth but without the staining issues you’d get with actual sandstone. The work surface used in the kitchen is Quantum Quartz – Statuario Quartz and the
backsplash is a mother of pearl mosaic tile. The light fixture is by Timothy Oulton from Coco Republic. The mosaic tile is soooooo gorgeous and I really like the effect of those faux sandstone tiles. And what’s not to love about that graphic bathroom tile – I love that it continues up the wall. Fabulous job Alisha!

This is Monogram Decor YO and Courtney Lake is one super talented interior designer! I love all of these spaces he has designed, from the mid-century vintage, the colours, the patterns and most importantly the BOLD artwork!
