I was having a hard time trying to find something to follow my previous post with. I am head over heels in love with that last house…but I think this living room is in the same vein. It has a little more funk and I love the addition of the wall colour. By Mrs Sullivan Interiors. Photo: Francis Dzikowski.

I seem to be finding lots of incredible renovations in New York lately. This Cobble Hill (Brooklyn) row house is a total dream, having undergone a serious makeover by architect Lorraine Bonaventura. Never mind how glorious this entire structure is, LOOK AT THOSE ORIGINAL WOOD FLOORS!!! YES!!! This row house for a busy family in Cobble Hill underwent a complete transformation over two years. Every system and surface was replaced, the structure stabilized and reinforced. The house was altered from a four family to a two family residence, a triplex with two terraces and a two bedroom apartment below. The clients are both designers and participated in design decisions throughout the process. Wherever possible, we used original materials: flooring, stair balusters and newel posts, supplementing them with vintage fixtures and antique mantels. These vintage materials contrast with an open, clean and modern space. (Photos: Houzz)

Oh my! Oh my! Oh my! Oh my! Oh my! Oh my! Oh my! Oh my! Oh my! Oh my! Oh my! Oh my! High end French design. High end finishes. High end furniture. High end is giving me a high. Beautiful old bones, beautiful volumes, beautiful details, beautiful styling. Appartement Trocadéro by Rodolphe Parente.

Jenny J Norris creates spaces around her home base of New York that are bold and eclectic – mixes of mid century, modern, flea market finds, and loads of textures (such great rugs!). A few of these rooms are from her really cool Brooklyn loft, including the living room above.

Not much space (16m2). Very little money. Brillant solution. A dedicated children’s play room which sits next to a cafe in a shopping centre. The scalloped plywood walls hold replacable cardboard sheets for scribbling while the cardboard tube light has been dip painted fluoro yellow for maximum impact. Great inspiration for a domestic playroom. Playspace by Clare Cousins Architects.
