Carla Lane Interiors – Santa Monica home

Posted on Mon, 20 Apr 2015 by KiM

Before I introduce this post, I just wanted to say a quick THANK YOU to everyone who sent donations towards my 3 feral cats’ vet bills. Once this post published Georgie, Frankie and Bernie will be at the vets getting everything done – checkups, tested for diseases, vaccinations, and spaying (if Georgie isn’t pregnant – but both my husband and I think she is 🙁 ) and neutering. If the estimate I was given is accurate I should have enough to foot the bill, so I can worry about the kitties instead of the finances. I really appreciate everyone’s help. Here’s hoping today goes smoothly! I will put updates on Instagram. (P.S. I have a few pets on furniture entries – keep on sending them in if you want this series to continue! kim[@]desiretoinspire[.]net)

Now onto the subject at hand – a fabulously designed house in Santa Monica by LA-based Carla Lane Interiors. This home is simply decorated but packs a punch. Timeless spaces that are comfortable and clearly made to be lived in and loved. Well, I freaking LOVE that mirror over the fireplace. It is the perfect subtle graphic statement for that fireplace.

Geremia Design – Benvenue Avenue

Here is another project by the talented interior design firm Geremia Design. This one is amaaaaazing with some serious mid-century classics (Eames lounge, Saarinen womb chair, Bertoia diamond chair, Kofod-Larsen chair etc.) and OMG my yellow/orange stained floors! I guess when you have some seriously nice furniture and lighting all over it distracts you from the not-so-cool bits. That adorable kid is distracting too. 🙂 (Photos: Melissa Kaseman)

Geremia Design – Canning Street

I am stoked to feature this home by Lauren Geremia of Geremia Design now that I got my hands on these fabulous juicy photos (by Melissa Kaseman btw). It is mid-century sophisticated with an youthful edge. We wanted to give our client an updated and contemporary look for his one story Craftsmen home, including furniture with detailing that nods to the architecture of the space. Our client travels frequently, but when he is home likes to host dinner parties and cook for his friends. We created a comfortable living and dining space that can accommodate guests, and curated a evocative selection of contemporary art that suits his taste. LED lighting and a custom designed hand oxidized brass media unit are design highlights of the project. (Previous features of her work here, here and here)

Dream

Pinch me. I’m dreaming. What I wouldn’t give to have a butler’s kitchen or a mudroom except I’d use it like here for flower arranging. A little decadent to devote a small space to one of life’s little pleasures? No. Life is too short. Embrace the lovely. Shortlisted in the Kitchen Design category in the Belle Coco Republic Interior Design Awards 2015, the Turramurra Residence by my new crush Design Bubble.

The PERFECT setup. Closes away when not in use, includes a little sink, tons of storage…*sigh*. Via Domaine Home
