Belgian architects Armand Eeckels and Halewijn Lievens of NU architectuuratelier have renovated or newly built some pretty sweet modern homes, while creating perfect cat perches, indoor-outdoor living spaces, and live-work arrangements. A very creative team. Here is a selection of photos from several of their projects.

If you would like to send me photos to include in next week’s pets on furniture post, please ensure your photos follow these basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, if the photo is too dark or unfocused it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to kim[at]desiretoinspire[dot]net. Thanks!
Here is our cat Gary who loves sleeping in our Ercol chair.

Tyson gets his early morning snuggles in our tea room.

1 – This is Izzy my 6 month old mix of all things sweet puppy snoozing on my favorite couch in my office. She likes to rest her head on a throw pillow.
2 – The painting is one of mine!

Attached are pictures of Mama and Baby. They were both rescued from outdoors years ago and they both remain extremely timid. Baby loves to sleep among the breakables – she is quite stealthy – not a single item has been broken.. yet.

Let me introduce our 2 year old Velveeta…this is a common occurrence on our vintage ottoman; from this pose she slides right to the floor 🙂

A little side note I had to share. Saturday morning my mother was outside cleaning the windows of my parents’ sunroom when my mom looked down as she was moving the ladder and spotted 2 kittens (a 2-3 weeks old perhaps) curled up one on top of the other asleep. The mom is a black and white cat who is quite timid but my folks are fairly sure she is not a stray. I am not certain what will become of these kittens (NO I am NOT taking them! but we will make sure they are safe somewhere) but for now while it’s very warm out they are being left alone so their mom can take care of them.

This cold I have is knocking me on my ass, especially now that I am into the drippy nose/sinus ache stage so before I head back to bed I will simply leave you with this fantastic home I found on CITIZENS OF THE WORLD. It is that of Vicki Lee, artist and founder of a beautifully curated homewares shop TheTwentyTwo, and it reminds me how much I would love to live in a climate where one can easily enjoy the outdoors with lots of large windows and sliding doors. Happy Friday folks! It is going to be a sunshine-filled, HOT weekend here in Ottawa so despite having a bad sore throat, I plan on enjoying it (tomorrow is the Etsy: Made in Canada show, then dinner at Café My House, and my niece’s first birthday party Sunday). I leave you with some interior eye candy care of New York photographer Miki Duisterhof (featured eons ago here).

Toronto interior designer Lauren Flax of Flax-Design sent over some photos from her portfolio yesterday to share on the blog. She has a great eye and her eclectic sensibility resonates with me. Helping to keep T Dot hip 🙂
