Sharing some rug love

Posted on Thu, 25 Sep 2014 by KiM

I have been thinking alot about rugs lately, as they will be a great temporary solution to hiding the gawd-awful yellow/orange stained hardwood I have going on in my new house. It had been a while since I shared a rug roundup so I am due for an update. (And if I am lucky maybe one day I will train my cats to STEP AWAY FROM THE RUGS before they barf…which is one of the reasons why I will never be able to buy a coveted beni ourain)

LOVE!

I love this space. It is simple yet…..perfect. I want to lie on that bench with a mag, some red wine and sea salt chocolate away from cats and husband and just be.

This week has gone by SO FREAKING SLOW, so I could use a pick-me-up to get me through the day. I am pretty sure I need more than some glorious eye candy but I will start with that. These stunners are the creations of Australian photographer Felix Forest. A definite photographer crush happening here. And may we all pay hommage to the sinfully beautiful herringbone hardwood floors in the photo below? *GASP!*

Inside Out

Posted on Wed, 24 Sep 2014 by midcenturyjo

October’s issue of Inside Out hits the stands on Thursday and I’m excited. Managing editor Lee Tran Lam has sent us not one but two sneak peeks.

… the home of Table Tonic blogger and shop owner Louise Bell and her architect husband Graeme Bell. It’s located on Sydney’s northern beaches and is a modernist design by architect Loyal Alexander, who originally lived there. By the time that Graeme came across the home, four families had lived there since. “They were marketing it as a ‘knock-it-down-and-build-two’, which horrified us,” said Graeme Bell. Luckily, his family moved in and saved that from happening. Readers will be able to visit this residence on Wednesday October 29, when it hosts our latest ‘Open For Inspection’ house tour, as led by editor Claire Bradley and ISCD educator and our panel’s style expert Lisa Koehler. Tickets will be available at Moshtix from Thursday. Styling by Jason Grant and photography by Harold David.

Australian readers can pick up their copy of the October Inside Out on Thursday. Not in Australia? You can read along on  ZinioGoogle Play and the Apple Newsstand.
