Not your average West Village townhouse

Posted on Tue, 23 Sep 2014 by KiM

After blogging about interior design for almost 8 years and seeing alot of “trends” and repetitive styles, I love stumbling upon a project that is creative, original and eclectic. This West Village townhouse designed by Danielle Fennoy and Cece Stelljes of Revamp Interior Design is anything but trendy. It is quirky and unexpected and that loungey purple-ish sectional sofa is maybe one of the coolest I have ever seen (I am obsessed with movie-watching comfy sectionals)…and HELLO POOL!!!!

A home built with layers. Collections and treasured possessions. Textures. Subtle palette lifted with splashes of colour. Art and a sense of personality. A house with soul. By Barcelona based design firm Luzio.

Brittany Ambridge

Brittany Ambridge has the best job (IMHO). She is the photography director for the newly relaunched domino magazine, and their sole photographer. Oh, to get to experience such beautiful and creative homes each day….*sigh*.

Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 22 Sep 2014 by KiM

If you would like to send me photos to include in next week’s pets on furniture post, please ensure your photos follow these basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, if the photo is too dark or unfocused it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to kim[at]desiretoinspire[dot]net. Thanks!

Buster, a 7 year-old English bulldog, constantly seeks out new chin rests in his Greenwich Village apartment.
– Genevieve

1 – Zoey, our two year old Shiloh Shepherd, loves to curl up in this womb chair, bask in the sun and look out the window. She knows she’s really not allowed in this chair, but that doesn’t stop her.
2 – She’s almost 100 pounds but can always manage to curl up in the chair of her choice.
– Claire (Minneapolis, MN)

My two dogs Milo the pug and Moxie the American Bulldog love to sleep on the furniture, even though they are not supposed to!
– Lacy (Salt Lake City, Utah)

I have attached some photos of my 2 Little chihuahuas, Wilma (black) and Stella (tan) in our livingroom in the northern parts of Sweden (Boden)
– Jesica

This is of our blue burmese cat Popoki. He’s young so he is either tearing around our place destroying furniture – or curled up in a ball enjoying the furniture he has chosen to save. This is a favourite spot of his.
– Tiffany (Sydney, Australia)

A couple from me – Milo chillin’ on the living room sofa, and Felix caught mid-yawn while snoozing in the vintage wooden crate. (P.S. I tried painting swatches of Farrow & Ball’s down pipe and plummett in the living room over the weekend as seen here on IG – I think they’re going to work!)

Eccentric old Europe

Posted on Sun, 21 Sep 2014 by KiM

When I spotted this home from Spanish Architectural Digest, I nearly had a coronary. This is everything I want my new house to be, but WAY more. It is the Mexico City residence of interior designer Dirk-Jan Kinet and it is filled with glorious colours and beautiful antiques, resulting in a vibe that is MUCH more European than Mexican. I absolutely love the greys on the walls in the dining room with the punch of magenta. It is quite an amazing transformation from what it was last year when it was featured on Freunde von Freunden. I prefer this version SOOOOO much more.
