Bring on the retro funk

Posted on Wed, 11 Jun 2014 by KiM

Need a little pick me up? This home ought to help! It’s retro all the way, with some names like Platner and Saarinen to keep the classics alive. Colour, pattern, light fixtures that completely rock my world. There is even a bit of a zoo with peacocks and jaguars! This is the Madrid home of interior designer Miriam Alia of Living Pink (via Nuevo Estilo).

Amanda Forrest

Loving these spunky spaces by Toronto interior designer Amanda Forrest. Classic mixed with modern and mid-century, pattern and colour and in abundance. And I am an instant fan when I see black mixed with gold (the bathroom below).

The White Room

I’m so excited. From the genius behind The White House in Daylesford, Victoria, Lyn Gardener, comes my next must stay destination in Fitzroy, Melbourne.

Featuring one beautiful room in a separate converted warehouse! Mini kitchenette and own bathroom with its own little private courtyard. Down a lane way entrance – walking distance to Brunswick Street, Rathdowne Street, Gertrude Street, City and Edinburgh Gardens! Cool accommodation for interstate guests or business visits.

Can’t wait to see more pictures. Can’t wait to book in. Can’t wait to get busy on a business trip.

The Urban Tree House

Living up amongst the branches. Eating breakfast with the birds. Sleeping in your own tree house. Pander to your adventurous inner child next time you need somewhere to stay in Berlin. That’s right. You can rent out your own Baumhaus by baumraum. The Urban Tree House designed by Andreas Wenning.

Fern Santini – compound interest

Posted on Tue, 10 Jun 2014 by KiM

This casual compound designed by the San Antonio architecture firm Lake/Flato is the second home for a busy couple who lives near San Francisco and loves the water. High above Lake Austin, the main house keeps the couple walking on air, thanks to a catwalk that connects it to one of the three out buildings. Fern Santini‘s ruggedly casual décor makes for relaxed living, and is punctuated on high with stylishly whimsical pendant lighting. Porches encourage outdoor living, and separate yoga studio and exercise room are for well-being. A lake pavilion and boat house complete the setting. OMG this home is stunning! So open and airy and it seems to have great flow. Plus, the furnishings make it modern yet cottagey. Perfection!
