Mariah O’Brien is a Los Angeles-based interior designer who has worked with tons of celebrities including Megan Fox, Flea, Giovanni Ribisi, and Patricia and Rosanna Arquette to name just a few. I absolutely love her style – because she doesn’t really have one. It’s pretty eclectic which is what I love about her. I am all for interiors that are unexpected, unexplained, and uncommon. She injects into spaces just the right amount of pizzazz with colour, pattern, texture, sparkle and fabulous artwork. I got my hands on tons of photos from several of her projects (thanks PR peeps!) and this home in Los Feliz that is a favourite.

Just a few more houses from Sydney interior designer Karen Akers. The first, in Roseville, is a finalist in the 2013 Dulux Colour Awards. The second, in Gladsville, made the same finals in 2012 and was shortlisted for the Australian Interior Design Awards as well. Traditional and contemporary. Light, bright and colourful. Joyful, fun and fab.

I love it when an email from Inside Out magazine is waiting in my inbox. Not only do I get to chat with Lee Tran Lam, managing editor, but she sends me big, juicy images from the latest issue to share with you. And they are gorgeous, big, juicy pictures this month.
The home belongs to Romy Sormann and her family. Romy collaborated with her brother, Jamie Sormann of Foong + Sormann, on the Melbourne renovation. The story is styled by Rachel Vigor and photographed by Derek Swalwell. The new May/June Inside Out is out on Wednesday. Run, don’t walk into your local newsagents and grab your copy if you aren’t already a subscriber. Don’t fret if you aren’t in Australia though because you can read along on Zinio, Google Play and the Apple Newsstand!
P.S. The cover is Brisbane stylist Kara Rosenlund‘s beautiful home. Can’t wait to see more!

Classic and elegant, striking and stylish or casually chic. Different rooms, different roles but always dramatic. From treading the boards on Broadway to now an interior design career Adam Hunter knows how to bring his designs to centre stage. Traditional meets contemporary but always with a star quality.

I could not be more grateful it’s Friday. It’s been a crazy week, and I’m ready for some time off the day job to knock some items off of my to-do list, including photographing some new things around my house – hopefully to feature here on Sunday. My photos won’t be as fantastic as these by German photographer Sabrina Rothe. I love how she takes advantage of natural sunlight to add a magical quality to the spaces she captures. (Check out more of her work featured by Jo here)
