Scott Frances encore

Posted on Wed, 6 Mar 2013 by midcenturyjo

Telling a story is important to photographer Scott Frances. Capturing the essence, the atmosphere of a space is just as paramount as detailing the designer’s work. Architecture with mood, images with emotion. You will find my original post on Scott Frances‘ work here but I’m glad I revisited his portfolio. Diving into an architect’s work through the lens of a photographer with a holistic approach.

New from Jared Frank

Fabulous new work from Jared Frank of topsy design. You’ll remember his charming patio from this post but now he has cranked it up another notch. Love!

“Hadar Lorenzo wanted an annex to the men’s store, that could function as a stand alone shop. A place to try out new clothes, ideas, and designers before committing to carrying them at his other locations. It was important to both of us that the shop continued H Lorenzo’s long tradition of cutting edge design but that if also had its own style. Also, just as critical as the retail below, Hadar wanted an upstairs client lounge, where he could entertain clients and meet with peers over sake or espresso. Packing all this into such a narrow room, while maintaining a sense of lightness and freshness was my primary challenge.”

Kristofer Johnsson

I am inspired by the delightful portfolio of super-talented Swedish photographer Kristofer Johnsson. Love the artwork in the photo below, and I would loooove to get my hands on one of those long articulated wall mount light fixtures like in photo #4 (except not for my existing extremely narrow house LOL).

Le Château de Marteret

A special place, part history, part fantasy, part mystery, part dream made reality. Château de Marteret in Southwest France in the foothills of the Pyrenees in the Gascony region has a singular charm. The current owners have commissioned over 20 artists to help bring their vision to life. The estate is about creative power and inspiration, nurturing life and delving into its meaning and mysteries. It’s philosophy meets interior design. Perhaps that is a little glib but whatever Château de Marteret would profess to be it certainly is beautiful… and unusual.
