Bathroom love

Posted on Fri, 20 Oct 2017 by midcenturyjo

Straight to my inspiration file. One day (hopefully soon) my bathroom renovations will begin. By Tasmanian interior designer Lydia Maskiell.

From the moment you step through the gate to the welcoming entry hall, the bright light informal living areas with their beautiful terracotta tiles (and strangely empty kitchen) to the expansive master suite this Beverly Hills house by Ryan White Designs is understated and sophisticated. Think luxury that isn’t so much ostentatious as deeply satisfying.

An apartment in Milan in dark neutrals

I found this exquisite apartment in Milan by interior designer Paolo Badesco and had to share because Europeans always seem to know what to do when it comes to architecture and not following rules. There is nothing trendy about this apartment and that is why I love it. Also, THOSE CHEVRON WOOD FLOORS. AND THAT MARBLE BATHROOM. WOW! As an aside, I can’t stop laughing. Did the dog in the photo above eat the trim on the door and this is his guilty face?

Last week I featured this project by Sue Miller of Mad Cow Interiors. Of course her home is totally rad so I had to share it as well. Sue used reclaimed materials and up-cycling to create bespoke furniture, with a goal to create an industrial rough luxe theme, mixed with various mid century modern touches. Lots of dark walls, bold colour accents and patterns in fabrics and wallpaper are common to Sue’s style and this is all prominent in her own home. So much fun and energy and creativity.

I just want to be here. Oh I also want to be glamorous and rich and as young as I was in the 80s. You may think it is a decade that taste forgot and how on earth would we want it back but then along comes a room that has its design zeitgeist so firmly in that era and it’s love at first sight.
