Nato Welton

In case you haven’t gotten your fill of eye candy today or you’ve just got a really sweet tooth (HA), I thought Nato Welton‘s photography might satiate your appetite. Although his portfolio is so yummy it leaves me wanting more.

Gena Sigala

I came across the portfolio of interior stylist Gena Sigala recently and was mesmerized by her spaces. I am still a firm believer that stylists have the best job in the world. It’s making a pretty space even prettier. Making it JUST RIGHT. *sigh*

OneByNine – Invader apartment

Posted on Tue, 26 Jun 2012 by midcenturyjo

In Hong Kong, where space is at a premium, the OnebyNine studio architects took on the challenging brief to help design this 35 square meter apartment. Lukasz Wawrzenczyk and Ewa Koter, originally from Poland but now in Hong Kong, reworked the configuration, removed walls and created a more continuous space for living, sleeping and entertaining. As a quirky linking element, “Space Invaders” mosaics appear in several rooms. A small terrace with tropical plants is a perfect (and welcome) retreat from such a bustling, overcrowded city.

A closer look

I had to go back. I just had to. Drawn like a moth to the flame. I clicked the link and took a look. Sucked right back into the portfolio of photographer Mark Gregory Peters. (You’ll find my first post on him here.) Then I took a closer look. A closer look at the home of Spanish decorator Serge Castella, first published in AD Spain and captured in all its moody, dark and broody glory by MGP. Dramatic!

Stalking steampunk

Posted on Mon, 25 Jun 2012 by midcenturyjo

One part high Victorian, one part industrial, one part art deco and one part modern. Seems I stumbled on a recipe for a steampunk home except I don’t think that was exactly what the owner had in mind. Imagine living in an apartment where the living areas were once a two storey ballroom and imagine having that lovely Victorian era room for a kitchen. I love the mix of modern and antique, slick art deco and polished industrial. Lovely to see an old house divided sympathetically into apartments. I just wish the photos were better and we could see more of the intriguing details. You’ll find it in Potts Point, Sydney. Link here while it lasts.
