Juxtaposition

Posted on Tue, 5 Sep 2017 by midcenturyjo

“Juxtaposing lush materiality with sleek, edited lines, this elegant space highlights masculine and feminine silhouettes with high-contrast, architectural detail for an air of improvised sophistication and effortless luxury.”

And it’s beautiful! 180m2 apartment in Saint-Sulpice, Paris by interior designer JeanCharles Tomas.

Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 4 Sep 2017 by KiM

If you would like to participate in the Monday’s pets on furniture series please send photos, your name, location and a brief description to kim[at]desiretoinspire[dot]net, or hashtag your photos on Instagram with #DTIpetsonfurniture. Thanks!

Last in the sitting room series is the chaise longue that divides the two halves of the sitting room, otherwise known as the seat of Her Impurrial Highness Princess Enid. In other news the 16yo did exceptionally well in his GCSEs. We are so proud. He is a bit stunned. But we must move on for today the 13yo becomes 14. And that’s another moment – born three months prematurely weighing 985g he is completely healthy and as happy as a teenager can be. I shall be an emotional wreck by the end of these two days…. keep bringing the coffee…. #myhousetour #victorianhouse #pocketofmyhome #howivintage #sassyhomestyle #colourmyhome #vintagestyle #styleitdark #myFaBhome #downpipe #greycat ##catsofinstagram #britishblue #enidcat #mysittingroom #myhome #chaiselongue #pinkvelvet #fireplace #darkwalls #persianrug

A couple from me, as usual. 🙂 First up, Felix passed out on my new vintage sofa from Greystone Fine Furniture. I am totally in love with this piece, as are all of the cats who take turns on it. Second shot is Milo curled up on yet another new piece from Greystone – a pink velvet armchair. Also constantly being used by all the cats all of the time.

Living in concrete

Posted on Sun, 3 Sep 2017 by KiM

Most people think living in a concrete house would be cold and unwelcoming. I think that can be true depending on the climate. If it was a home with lots of glass nestled in the hills of Rio de Janeiro (as opposed to nestled within snow in the middle of a Canadian winter for example), like this home, I think it would be wonderful. This is home on weekends to designer Alessandra Clark, her husband Nuno Franco de Sousa (both of Mameluca Studio) and their daughter. With mountains and trees seen through all the windows, rustic wood furnishings, I think this is far from cold. Via Casa Vogue Brazil. Photos: Fran Parente.

Working on a Saturday

Posted on Sat, 2 Sep 2017 by midcenturyjo

You know how I feel about working on a weekend by now. If you have to drag yourself then it helps if it’s somewhere stylish. I would be more than happy to be an employee or a customer in today’s workspace. Nail Shop 1.0 by Crosby Studios.
