Because I will never stop loving Parisian apartments, here is one in the 1er arrondissement, Haussmann architecture at its finest with some recent renovations and styling by Baldini Architecture and GCG Architecture. I don’t quite get the decor but throw in a Ligne Roset Ploum sofa and I’ll forget any shortcomings. I am dying over the ceiling molding details. !!!!!

Pretty pastels in a home in Paris

Jo has featured the work of Paris design firm GCG Architectes a few times here on the blog (like here, here and here) and I am totally smitten with this talented crew. Style out the wazoo, an unwavering need to add random colours, patterns and architectural details throughout their projects…their unique approach is unlike anything I have ever seen. Yep, safe to say I am their biggest fan. And this home in the Boulogne Billancourt suburb of Paris decked out in mostly pastels is fabulously random, as I would expect from GCG. Photos: Robin Petillault

A 100 year old renovated farmhouse

I wanted to share another delicious project by the super talented folks of Vancouver design firm PlaidFox Studio. Bet you’ll want to move to a farmhouse by the time you get to the end of this post! This 100-year-old farmhouse underwent a complete head-to-toe renovation. Teaming up with Home Star BC we painstakingly modernized the crumbling farmhouse while maintaining its original west coast charm. The only new addition to the home was the kitchen eating area, with its swinging dutch door, patterned cement tile and antique brass lighting fixture. The wood-clad walls throughout the home were made using the walls of the dilapidated barn on the property. Incorporating a classic equestrian aesthetic within each room while still keeping the spaces bright and livable was one of the projects many challenges. The Master bath – formerly a storage room – is the most modern of the home’s spaces. Herringbone white-washed floors are partnered with elements such as brick, marble, limestone and reclaimed timber to create a truly eclectic, sun-filled oasis. Overall, the project proves that bolder, more colourful strokes allow a home to possess what so many others lack: a personality!!

You’ll find me here just a little later in the day. When the sun is setting and the fire is just lit. I’ve just turned on the Noguchi lamp and settled on Le Bambole sofa with a large glass of wine. Unfortunately as I can’t get out so easily and Google Assistant is no help will you lift the needle onto the jazz record for me? Venice Bungalow by Studiohus.

I am experiencing some serious heart palpitations over this renovated Victorian carriage house, especially the absolutely gorgeous kitchen. This property was converted into a home in the 1950s but had fallen into disrepair until the new owners purchased it in February 2016 and began a complete renovation, and the result is all kinds of awesome. The middle section of the home houses the open concept kitchen/dining room/living room (16 metres in long, 6 wide, and 4 high). In the remaining parts of the house are two more sitting rooms, six bedrooms, a large utility room and a huge, modern office space that is in the former garage/carriage storage area. O M G this is massive and stunning inside and out. Available as a location home via Shoot Factory, designed by Laura Butler-Madden.
