WINKS

WINKS – weekend links. Here we list what has come in during the week, things we’ve found and things we think you’ll want to see. If you’d like to see your blog or website featured email us and if we think it fits with our readers we’ll link you. So what’s in this week?

  • Olivier Abry from Lyon in France is an “assembler of light”. He takes vintage industrial parts and creates beautiful lamps. Minimalist, industrial and recycled. Definitely on my lust list. Wo and Wé Collection. Ships world wide…. oh lordy help me!!! Need, want!

  • At Moss NY from 15 September “Make Me” – The emergence of BUTCH-CRAFT in contemporary design. “Through the infusion of a cerebral yet virile narrative applied to rough work crafted in wood, iron, steel, marble, rush, paint, boiled leather, clay, baked agricultural waste, plant-life, gypsum drywall, and blood, sweat and tears.”

  • Saving the best to last. Totally in love with Tricia Rose’s Rough Linen range of bed linen, cushions and curtains. So rough luxe, so earthy, so beautiful and you would never have to iron your duvet cover again 😉

Reader request – masculine decor

Posted on Thu, 2 Sep 2010 by KiM

Reader request time! This one comes from Kristín: “My best friend just moved in to his new fab flat, and here’s the best part: He’s letting me decorate it! Ive been searching some picture for inspiration, and I was thinking something masculine in grey-blue colours. I still havn’t found anything though, so I was hoping you might have some pictures?” I don’t think masculine has to be blue and grey so I went through my stash and found some spaces (mostly living rooms and a couple bedrooms) that I personally think would generally appeal to the average guy, that aren’t necessarily bathed in “manly” colours.

ONG&ONG

Posted on Thu, 2 Sep 2010 by midcenturyjo

More hot Singapore design. We’ve focused on apartments before but there are a lucky few who possess that most valuable of quantities on this populous island state…. land no matter how small. These stunning heritage architecture homes are in Singapore’s conservation zones. Many are shop houses but behind their immaculately preserved historical facades hide stunning modern homes where every square inch is devoted to living life well. All were designed by one of South-East Asia’s leading architectural firms ONG&ONG. Beautiful, considerate of heritage and spatially clever!

Susan Gilmore

I would love to go on and on about the photography of the talented Minneapolis-based Susan Gilmore but it’s 8 pm here in Ottawa and 40 degrees celsius and I think my brain is melting and about to come pouring out of my ears, so all I’ll say is this woman has shot some of the most gorgeous drool-on-my-laptop kitchens I’ve seen in a VERY long time.
