Outdoor rooms part 2

As the weather warms up for most of you it’s time to take another look at using outdoor spaces. Where I live in sunny subtropical Queensland we use our outdoor rooms all year round. Even in the southern parts of Australia there is only a brief period of the year where we don’t live outside. The fresh air beckons. And if you don’t have a permanent space to dine, laze and while away the day then a rug some pillows a garden set or hammock can extend your living space.

Outdoor rooms

Whether it's a patio or a courtyard, a veranda or a cabana, a balcony or deck, a loggia or just a patch of grass extend your living area outside. Go alfresco with these ideas and reclaim that porch.

Plants and outdoor spaces

I woke up this morning, looked out the window and had to stifle a scream. Apparently there was a snowstorm overnight. I have been dreaming about doing some landscaping, and this being my first home (despite the pretty small space I have to work with), I am pretty excited. But with at least a foot of snow on the ground in the MIDDLE OF APRIL, I am not going to get much done. So instead of freaking out I started looking for photos of gardens for some inspiration. This first group of photos is of some gorgeous modern planters from New Zealand company the urban garden.

The following photos are from garden shows held in the UK. From the Reckless Gardener.

I want to be here

I would give anything to be sitting in this spa with a bitingly cold champagne and all the time in the world to watch the view. Amazing work by Marsh Cashman Koolloos.
