Midnight Room

A fresh guest house/studio in Atwater Village creatively transforms this backyard in Atwater Village, Los Angeles. A single car garage was removed and the new dark-clad structure expanded the house’s living area. Indoor and outdoor rooms connect generations, fostering family bonds. The design emphasizes the link between structures, aligning sleeping and living spaces for intimacy, privacy, and a shared experience of nature.

A cozy lakeside cabin in northern Wisconsin

The days are packed, the children are piled on docks and rafts. The clarity of the sky and the water feel endless and pure. Sunkissed kids crash on sofas, exhausted at the end of the day – there is a feeling of health and joy that we know we’ll need for long winter months ahead. This is not your home, this is not a zen spa, this is a summer cabin. Pairings: clementines, sunscreen, popsicles.
Another inspiring project by Prospect Refuge. This one is more modern but with lots of plain-sawn white oak paneling, it has woodsy cabin vibes but it light and bright and perfect for enjoying the warmer months. Photos: Matthew Williams.

A mix of eras are found throughout this apartment in the Spanish resort town of San Sebastián. Designer Iñigo Iriarte maintained as many original features as possible in the space, and kept the decor really eclectic with a plethora of random vintage pieces. Textures and patterns really warm up this apartment and create a very welcoming vibe. Photos: Erlantz Biderbost

The Farm at Avebury, Wiltshire

An old stable block in the heart of a family run farm is transformed into a B&B. Situated on a working farm in Wiltshire in a unrivaled location nestled into the rolling hills sits The Farm at Avebury. Five hideaway stables of varying sizes offer guests a break from the outside world. From an interiors point of view we had a lot of fun with colour and pattern, wanting to offer visitors something they didn’t necessarily have at home.
The colourful yet calming vibes of these transformed spaces are exactly what I would want on a vacation to Wiltshire, as opposed to staying in a bland and unwelcoming hotel. Designed by Polly Ashman.

Completely refurbished to accommodate the clients’ family, this typical 1980s home has been modernized to showcase the various vintage pieces amidst a space filled with character, just like its owners.  With a strong presence of wood, marble and touches of color, the ambience of each room reflects the Blanc Marine signature as well as the clients’ love of art and antiques, contributing in every way to the unique atmosphere that emanates from this home.
Charlotte-Denys residence designed again by Blanc Marine. I would have never EVER guessed this was a typical boring 1980s home. Lots of dark elements for drama, gold toned woods for some warmth, a sense of calm and old world vibes…I love every element and every inch of this. (Photos: Charles-Olivier Richard)
