Here are a few things that really do it for me: plywood used as a material for cabinets/walls etc., an incredible view out of floor to ceiling windows, vaulted ceilings, quirky shaped windows, the perfect red door…and I found all these in the portfolio of New Zealand based Parsonson Architects.

I’m with Kim… I think the plywood is beautiful. One of my favorite patterns in nature.

I’m not a fan of plywood myself left unpainted, but those other houses are gorgeous! I love that they do contemporary as well as more traditional styles. I always believe a good architect can design in any style the client wants successfully!

Plywood is a common building material here in Australia not only for bracing but more and more as a feature internally. It’s cheap, has better sustainability than a lot of other building materials, and gives an edgy industrial look or even a beach shack feel. These are great contemporary spaces!

Kim loves plywoood… Kim visits Dwell! I’ve seen so much plywood warp — and the answer is always "More nails!" Or staples. Eventually, that’s what I start seeing. I really liked the horizontal walnut-stained planking, though!
I love, absolutely love, the architecture in the last picture. Wonderful wide open space — not over-exposing the more private of the ‘public’ spaces, like the living room, but flooding the working heart of the house, the kitchen and dining areas, with light. A good design. Why oh why do we have to live cheek-to-jowl? Designs like this don’t work without some space — not a lot, just some!
