Prefab fab

What a happy house! Or should that be Happy Haus? Fabulous prefab houses designed by two of Brisbane’s leading architectural firms, the brilliant Owen and Vokes and the edgy Donovan Hill for Happy Haus. One module, two, three or more trucked to your site, single or double storey or as pavilions. This is Owen and Vokes’ White Series, a play on the traditional holiday shack. Simple and stylish, modern but with that retro vibe. You can see more on their site or at Happy Haus. I’m dreaming of  an isolated headland and a module or two.

I've admired these for a while. They are very stylish and quite brilliant. I think a similar concept is quite popular in Germany – with economies of scale making the pre-fab home over there quite economical.

these are intriguing and potentially desirable – but important in the consideration of pre-fab is cost. on the face of it this looks uber cool and a total generational shift, could be the answer to obscene house build prices in oz. as i said, the dollar counts….do you know? would make all the difference.

saw a post on clusterstock the other day, 5 most affordable/5 least affordable locations in the US. confirms that here in oz we are paying far over premium.

forgot to say, they need to address the ceilings.

Itching to get in there and accessorise!

So beautiful and for some reason it feels very Japanese to me.. what a wonderful bright space to live in.

Awesome!!!

A similar concept can be seen at Add a Room or at Sommarnöjen – both companies deliver prefabricated buildings from Sweden, developed for your house you live in during summertime. And, of course, the most classical prefabricated one is "Huf-Haus" from Germany.

I love Happy Haus – I haven't been on their site in awhile so a lot of these pics I haven't seen before. Such a fantastic idea, after a shocker of a build on our last home this looks very tempting indeed.

Love!
