“We take a holistic approach to each project and, with sustainability always in mind, we consider the building, landscape, function and interior design and employ careful use of scale, proportion and detail to create houses that delight. We love what we do and particularly projects that offer opportunities for designing finely crafted modern buildings in stunning surroundings… ” and it shows. These buildings have soul, have personality, are exquisite. I’m in love with the work of McLean Quinlan Architects. You too?

Nice work but those bell pendants in the first few pics are way too overscaled for the table

Architecture really has become global hasn't it? The first house shown incorporates vernacular elements more commonly seen in New England, Tuscany, or even the south of France. What a delightful surprise to see it situated in the English countryside! Thanks so much for the glimpse of such a beautiful house.

There are some amazing images here — lots of pendant lights over that dining table — jarring at first, and yet it works somehow. The room with the black couches and gray accent wall is calling my name…ever so faintly. Oh, and would I ever love to plunk down by that classic pool area with the modern pergola.

Maybe two of those lights over the table? Those things are huge. I can't imagine its comfortable eating a meal under those things. I don't think its the scale so much as the quanitity, but they do make quite a statement. Quite a loud one in such a quiet space, I might add.

I love the use of natural rustic materials of wood and stone that speak of age, hand-wrought construction and stability combined with the crisp fresh lines and use of steel and glass.
Maia says:
All of the rooms are amazing but the top building is seriously my dream home! It's so simple and understated but looks very livable.

There are some very cool ideas here. Makes me want to redo my entire house!! Too bad I just redid the formal living room. I'm happy with it though. Much more contemporary and open and I love the colors now. SO BLAH before. I love the exposed beams. I've always loved that look. Never gets old for me.

@ rebecca: those are Caravaggio pendants. They come in different sizes.
