A budget makeover

Ryuhei sent us the following email: I’m Ryuhei, a young interior designer based in Brooklyn, New York. I recently won Behr’s Room for Color 201o contest with the living room from my very first 2BR project. Since the rest of this vintage inspired, yet modern bachelor’s pad is now complete and my client has fully settled into the apartment, I took some photos that I would love to share. This budget 2BR makeover was designed for my friend – a typical, young professional who moved into a small pre-war tenement. As a team, we hoped to create an example of how good even an everyday space could look with some effort and creativity. This apartment is such a great example of using colour to provide interest to rather blah spaces (LOVE the living room colour), vintage finds for intrigue and a homey feel, and funky lighting that functions as art. Fab job Ryuhei!

Very cute! Love the details. I think I spot some purchases from Urban Outfitters! Nicely incorporated… Like it.

WOW, love the colors and the vintage furniture.
i have a branch over my dinner table with several lamps attached in purple and got the textile cable from here: http://www.textilkabel.de/
it`s a german company and you can order the cable by the meter for a very good price.

Eliza says:

would you happen to know where I can find a dear head like the one in the fourth picture.
thank you! 🙂

KiM says:

Eliza, cardboardSafari.etsy.com and Urban Outfitters carry them

Anne says:

West Elm has rope lighting too!

cassie says:

I'm pretty sure those pendants were from CB2, or they sell some like them.

Bob C says:

It's tough to take a small NYC apartment and make it into something to enjoy and Ryuhei you've done it!

Meagan says:

I found the teal paint color name in the comments over at AT: Newburg Green! Here is the entry from the Apartment Therapy website: http://community.apartmenttherapy.com/contests/color/2010/entries/389
