Maureen’s DIY headboard

Posted on Thu, 10 Feb 2011 by KiM

Project #2 is from Maureen of The Inglenook Decor who was contacted by HGTV.comto create a budget-friendly DIY headboard that they wanted to feature. Maureen started the project by stalking Craigslist for somebody who could make a wood cutout, used leftover chalkboard paint and primer paint, dustless chalk (who knew?!?!) and a favourite vintage silhouette. I LOVE how it turned out. (Photos by Chris, silhouette image courtesy of Susie Harrington of Petite Prints).

Love it! I also love the bedding. Any idea where it is from?

thanks so much Kim for posting this! and thanks everyone for the comments.

Sarah, bedding is good old West Elm, there's a shop 2 blocks from us & I can't help pass by it 🙂

Jacquelyn, it's from Z Gallerie circa 2002, I couldn't believe how affordable it was!

Oh this is such a lovely idea and looks like such a fun project. I'm loving the wall color! It's the perfect blue I've been searching for….Can you tell me where can I get it 🙂

Shae says:

I love this! Pair this with the chalkboard dresser idea that was on design for mankind and I think that would make an adorable bedroom set!

What a great headboard. Quirky and fun, yet extremely classy.

Leni says:

Great! Until the to-do-list makes its way up there!

Your image is used without credits on a Dutch blog (www.misslipgloss.nl) who makes a lot of money out of her blog. I hate copyright infringers (that's not even a word, but it should be) so I wanted to make you aware of it.
