Reader’s home – a student’s apartment

Posted on Wed, 16 Feb 2011 by KiM

We recently heard from Neslihan, a student who says she’s lucky to have managed to move to a studio this year and decorated it in a very short time. Here’s some info she provided: I’m a Turkish girl studying masters in architecture in Netherlands. I live in Delft and my apartment is in the center of the city. The building is an old bakery warehouse dated circa 1900. It’s renovated last year by MBW Architecten based in the Hague/Netherlands. Wooden and steel beams and steel columns are original. Also window frames are original details from the old construction. The open space of the apartment is around 25 m2. Together with the entrance and bathroom it’s a total of 30 m2. Her apartment is  cozy, the openness of the space is fabulous, and I am digging her furniture placement. She’s not a bad photographer either! So without further ado, let me introduce you to Neslihan’s home.

Dina says:

Love this space — wish my apartment in college looked this cool!

Meee says:

Thank you for photos of homes that look like somebody is really living there!

lea says:

Student apartment?? Where is the 'milk crate' furniture. LOL
Clever use of space and the mirror gives the impression there is another room beyond.

I get lots of inspiration from Desire to Inspire and all the homes featured here. I like how she added interesting details here and there and the lights create such a cozy atmosphere. Maybe I'll also write to you once I get settled into my new apartment. 😉

another Neslihan 🙂

I like the live-ability and creative use of space and objects without expensive accessories and furniture. It's easy to be artistic and clever on an unlimited budget, but I think it takes even more creativity and design skill to work on a tiny student's budget. P.S. Is that couch with the blanket inflated furniture?

So bright and airy!

neslihan says:

Yes, that couch is inflated 🙂

SarahX says:

Really love this!! Wanna change my apt today~~

Michelle says:

Awesome. It has character. I love small apartments!

Stefano says:

I like the layout of the said unit. That said, the photography was exceptional.
