Jean Allsopp

It’s all about the light with these images by photographer Jean Allsopp. Natural light. Clear, crisp, warm, real. Whether elegant and restrained colour palettes in stylish southern homes or rich saturated hues and vibrant children’s rooms Jean Allsopp takes the light and creates something special. Ambiance and clarity, honesty and a beauty.

Not sure about "honesty". I would say "contrived". I can't bear bookcases done like that.

I organized my bookcase like the first one as well – though I don't have nearly as many books. I was really frustrated with how cluttered my bookshelf looked and I found that by organizing it by colour, it makes it much more minimalist – your eye sees all the red books as one object all the yellow as another etc., as opposed to 15 separate books per section. I find it much more calming.

great photos!

Beautiful images. The photographer does manage to make every room look bright, no doubt about that. My favourite is the one that appears to be a beach house. I would love to see more of that space…

these images look so authentic! beautiful work!

books organized by colour make me cringe. sure it looks pretty, but to me a book's worth is always primarily in its content, not its cover. sort of reminds me of those people who'd buy whole sets of leather bound books because it made their library look nice. lack of respect for the written word, in my view, but to each his own, i suppose…

Wow, I am lusting over so many of these photos. I remember that last kitchen shot from an Elle Decor or House Beautiful fairly recently, but all the rest are new to me. Gorgeous!
