CasasNaAreia

I was fortunate to be able to escape the dreary winter weather for a bit, but for those who aren’t so fortunate, I’ve got a virtual vacation for you. This is CasasNaAreia, a magical holiday rental located in Alentejo, Portugal via Welcome Beyond. CasasNaAreia is a gorgeous retreat taking old masonry buildings and turning them into new, contemporary structures. The property with 4 double bedrooms is about the experience of living almost in an extension of the natural environment, especially when in the kitchen/dining area – which is laid out with a carpet of fine sand. Surrounded by rice paddies and umbrella pine forest, CasasNaAreia looks out onto the Sado estuary famous for its stunning sunsets, salt pans, flamingos and flocks of dolphins.

Beautiful! Anybody know where you get those awesome outdoor chairs in 2nd to last photo?

Adriene says:

Umm, I'll take real floors please. Sand in the bed? Sand in the sofa? Sand in my clothes? No thanks. And I imagine it's pretty awkward trying to sit in those chairs and scoot forward or back from the table. Or even sit in a level position.

Jerry says:

I think the sand floors would be great! I wouldn't want them everyday in my own home, but for a getaway, I think it's a neat idea.

Deb says:

Um…Flocks of dolphins…?

Cyn says:

Brady…try checking out Wayfair. I was recently on their site (lusting for Missoni's black/white striped version). Fatboy seems to only have the rectangular version in white-outdoor.

Brady says:

Thanks, Cyn!

Belen says:

OMG!!!! I think I´m in love with it.

I love the sand! Its very different, it drew me to the open the post (only on holiday i agree) and the bedrooms/bathrooms don't have sand so you'd cope. The chairs are very you have to climb into them…so yes sand would be an issue. Agreed.

Holy Smokes! Incredibly creative idea for a rental property – love it.
