Riesco & Lapres

Nancy Riesco and Rebecca Lapres are interior designers from Vancouver who whip up contemporary, timeless spaces that are so fresh, youthful and pleasing to the eye that it’s no wonder their work has been showcased in a bunch of Canadian magazines. Superb portfolio, including these favourites…

The built-ins are magnificent! That bench is to die for. Onward, mid-century! The touches of bright whimsy are, oddly enough, the best of the work — the rest of it is discreetly euro-chic, lots of lovely furniture arranged not-quite boho fashion (with no eye to space) but the pops of color and choices in artwork and tchotchkes are superior.

Perhaps it's just a side-effect of staging the pictures, but there are a lot of very awkward and unworkable spaces in these images. Wasted space, match-ups that don't quite… quite… I mean, tubular aluminum arms paired with a pouf? Really? but on their own, they are quite lovely. That amber vase is an eye-catcher, but it has no support and will be in the way as soon as someone wants to use the kitchen — you might as well give it to me. 🙂

Grey is the new white, isn't it?

Grey has always been the new white 🙂

Love the casual modern style of these rooms. The shower room is beautifully understated and cool. The watery blue splashback in the kitchen is very effective. Thanks for this post!
