That late afternoon light in the mountains. Those purples and dusky blues as the golden sun dips low over eucalypt forests. The owner of this TriBeCa loft, by stellar Australian firm Nexus Designs, chose a colour palette inspired by Australia’s Blue Mountains. Absolute perfection. But then you wouldn’t expect anything less from Nexus Designs.

I am not into purple but I just love the yellow touches on it. I'd love to have in my home office that yellow (metal?) table … gorgeous!

Functional, beautiful, warm and white……. Love this space

This is beautifully done, totally gorgeous, no doubt about that. But why have an Australian design firm do an apartment in NY? Surely not for a lack of suitable talent in New York, I suppose? I would be furious if someone in Sydney got a firm all the way from NY to design a place. I do not begrudge the Aussies doing work in NY in the least. But it just seems so ridiculous and precious and quite dismissive of local talent. Now if these Aussies were based in NY then it would naturally be an entirely different thing altogether (are they?), as they then would in fact be locally-based talent.
Think global, act local, people!

The client is an Australian who now lives in NY and had used and loved Nexus in Australia before the move 🙂
