Black house on the ridge

Posted on Thu, 23 Jan 2020 by midcenturyjo

“Inspiration for the design of this three-bedroom, three-bathroom house came from its rural environment and the result is a modern interpretation of traditional barn architecture. It strikes a balance between natural textures and materials, earthy dark-stained furniture and beautiful charcoal and black-stained panelling.”

Casual sophistication in this contemporary country home with a strictly limited palette. Main Ridge House by Studio Griffiths.

A colourful apartment in Spain

Posted on Wed, 22 Jan 2020 by KiM

As promised, here is another project by designer Marta de la Rica. This apartment is located in Cádiz, Spain and is full of colour, pattern and has a really lived in and summery feel. The outdoor space is gloriously lush. If I found this on Airbnb I’d book it in an instant.

Art deco vibes in a Spanish flat

Posted on Wed, 22 Jan 2020 by KiM

We have been fans of Madrid-based designer Marta de la Rica for many years and her projects never disappoint. I thought I would share a couple today, starting with this one, a flat in Salamanca, Spain. Her style is without a doubt eclectic and always filled with patterns and colours, but in this case there is an art deco feel that I’m really into.

“A modern bohemian beach retreat for a vibrant family. Drawing on the home’s strong indoor/outdoor connection, JPL introduced an earth-tone palette layered with natural fibers, chunky textures and vintage furniture pieces to create a relaxing escape from the city bustle.”
