I love a home with lots of layers – patterns and textures and colours and plants bringing it all together. In this Locust Valley, NY home designer Brittany Bromley added in leopard print in almost every room. I cannot think of a better way to add cohesion and a little wildness to a home. RAWR!!!

Love the layered look in home decorating. A bit of colour never goes astray much more homely and comfy looking than a boring cream or grey colourscape. Also the mixing of fabrics and adopting an eclectic look in furniture adds much more character. I have always believed that you buy something you really like in furniture and not a whole room full of the same styling . The secret is to know how to make it work and if you don’t have that knack look at some home magazines especially the American ones.

I agree with buy what you really like- not what a showroom tells you is right.

I also think that everything should have meaning or emotion to you, whether sentimental or historical- if it is something you love, it will work. Especially when pleasing yourself is the motive 🙂
