A striking modern high rise condo

Posted on Wed, 15 Apr 2020 by KiM

I think if you live up in the clouds your home should be as striking as your surroundings. PROjECT did just that here in this Chicago condo. Our clients built a business empire and craved a sophisticated retreat to play, meditate, entertain, relax, and let it all melt away. A chic exaltation of refined and rebellious: Oaxacan pottery, paintings by Picasso + Warhol, lighting fashioned from bike chains, a lounge that doubles as a playground; a yoga studio with a floating lucite daybed cloistered by walnut slab doors; there’s winding corridors with pots of decorative gold at the end of every rainbow. It’s 4,000 square feet of architectural prowess, like Dr. X with design chops.

Cabin fever yet? Climbing the walls? Just want it to be back like it was before the corona virus? You’re not alone. I think the entire planet wants to turn back the clock to the good ol’ days. Time for a daydream getaway, to an airbnb in the middle of cow paddocks, to a little bit of rustic luxury in the Victorian countryside. It may only sleep up to 10 but we’ll take turns. We’ve learned how. Welcome to today’s fantasy The Wensley.

Making a dramatic entrance

Posted on Tue, 14 Apr 2020 by midcenturyjo

From the dramatic entrance to the sophisticated kitchen to the spa-like bathroom, from the luxury finishes to bespoke joinery, from the carefully restored old to the well considered Sydney-based interior designer Jillian Dinkel has created something very special indeed. This 1904 Victorian boldly broaches the 21th century, a dramatic entrance indeed.

Dark and rough

Posted on Mon, 13 Apr 2020 by KiM

I have been a huge fan of designers Pierre Emmanuel Martin and Stéphane Garotin of Maison Hand for many years. Everything they touch is magic. Whether light or dark or a mix of both, their projects are always fabulous. Their latest 75 m2 apartment in Lyon, France that they renovated is rough around the edges with lots of black and dark earthy tones and might be my favourite of all. I am intrigued by the wacky layout of the kitchen.

Picture the scene: It's 8am. The hubs has taken the dog for a walk and you have about half an hour until they're back. You've been living in a building site for four weeks and were semi homeless for three months before that. You are seriously in need of some faffing time. You also just happen to have a box of new stock to hand. So you faff. And you faff. And you faff. You get the bed looking just right. You get your phone out to take the perfect shot. And then a little (slightly muddy) dog comes rushing into the room, notices what you're doing and jumps onto the bed, centre stage. Then he looks at you as if to say, "well go on then, I haven't got all day". Yes, Quito, you HAVE TO GET UP. So it's officially back to work today! Happy New Year! The most liked picture on my feed for 2019 was of my bedroom so I figured I'd share this shot today which I snapped over the weekend (today its dark AF in the house sadly). To be honest, I'm not that fussed about Mondays like I used to when I was working in an office, repeating, "So didja have a nice break? What did you get up to?" about 700 times 😂 My current coworkers don't talk quite as much and it's kind of nice to just get back to a regular routine again! I'm sharing the highlights of the year over on the blog today as well my pretty new branding 😄🙌🏽 – new logo, new fonts, new colours – I hope you like it! Hit the link in my profile to check it all out!👆🏽 So…. didja have a nice break??😉 . . . . https://www.swoonworthy.co.uk/2020/01/2019-review.html/ . . . #bedroominspo #swoonworthy #bedroomdesign #bedroomgoals #bohoglam #glamourous #interiordesign #interiordesignideas #sodomino #interiorboom #styleithappy #livefabulousandfearless #luxuryinteriorsonabudget #howyouhome #suyhome #ihavethisthingwithpink #abmlifeiscolorful #eclecticdecor #sheltiesofinstagram #dtipetsonfurniture #sheltie

Here’s Pinot (noir) relaxing on the Danish mid-century dining room table.
– Karen (Norfolk, Virginia)

And some from me. Felix on the sofa, Lucky on a chair I was taking to Highjinx for them to sell, Mimin and Milo getting ready to nap on the sofa, and Bernie + Frankie + Felix sunning themselves in the living room.
